Next-Generation Clinical Programs

We design and implement effective programs to help people with the most complex life circumstances.

We help healthcare organizations detect and develop opportunities that improve health outcomes for communities likely to have experienced health inequities, reduce costs, and improve the experience for both providers and the people served.

We’ve worked with clients and partners to successfully design and implement two of the most challenging systems changes: integrating physical health and substance use treatment into behavioral health, and improving outcomes for populations with complex life circumstances.

As a former direct service provider, a program administrator in the public behavioral health system, and a leader in a large provider organization, our founder knows the challenge of managing day-to-day work while fostering innovation that improves the lives of people served and enables organizations to thrive.

Some of our initiatives include:

  • Standardized and spread pilot program for members of managed care organization that were ‘super utilizers’ of high-cost services, achieving 53% reduction in medical ER visits, 42% reduced psychiatric admissions, and visits with primary care providers increased by 47%..

  • Designed clinical model for nation’s first Pay for Success behavioral health program -- 6-year, $19M performance-based contract reducing psychiatric hospital stays for a Medicaid population utilizing high level of services. Exceeded targeted cost savings by $1.5M in first 3 years while delivering dramatic clinical outcomes.

  • Led county operations of a statewide mental health innovation program that reduced incarceration and psychiatric hospitalization rates, increased employment for for chronically homeless population with mental illness and substance use, saving $53M in institutional costs statewide..

  • Orchestrated multiyear Whole Person Care initiative for 2,000 staff across multi-state mental health agency; building organization-wide commitment, training multidisciplinary workforce, and tools to reduce health disparities for Medicaid population.
