Containment or Resilience?

People can emerge from individual and collective trauma strengthened or weakened. As this Harvard Business School article points out, fostering workforce resilience is an organizational issue. An individual can take steps to mitigate the impact of workplace practices and culture that are injurious and lead to burnout, however that is a short-term fix, not a solution. An organization must examine its practices to ensure (or become) a welcoming workplace that intentionally refuels its workforce, instead of being structured toward chaos and containment.

It’s time for companies to innovate and create environments in which employees are flexing their resilience muscles. If you want employees to get physically stronger you offer employee benefits like gym memberships, walking groups, and tips on healthy eating.

What are you doing to build the resilience muscle of your company? What’s your company’s resilience plan?
